Overview

The Park Data project provides visitor use management solutions for multiple national parks and other land management agencies through technology enhanced data collection. The selected intern will contribute to the development of innovative dashboard applications and digital communication for national parks and other land management agencies. These tools will help visualize visitor data, enhancing park management and visitor experience. This position requires collaboration with park staff and data analysts to deliver effective and user-friendly digital solutions. There is no housing available for this position.

Responsibilities:

● Develop and maintain web-based dashboards for visualization of park visitation data.

● Utilize Javascript, HTML/CSS, Vue.js or React to create responsive and intuitive user interfaces.

● Implement backend services using Firebase Console and Restful API to manage hosting, data flow, and storage.

● Work with SQL databases to query and manipulate data efficiently.

● Use GitHub for version control and collaboration with project team members.

● Manage package installations and project dependencies using NPM.

● Ensure the performance and reliability of Progressive Web Applications (PWAs) to enhance user engagement.

● Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather requirements, design solutions, and integrate user feedback into development processes.

● Uses digital images, video, electronically produced graphics, or artwork to produce content for park data web and mobile applications.

● Contributes to UI & UX strategy, design and development of mobile applications for the park data project.

● Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

● Strong proficiency in Javascript, HTML/CSS, and either Vue.js or React.

● Experience with Firebase Console, Restful APIs, and SQL databases.

● Familiarity with GitHub, NPM, and JSON for data interchange.

● Knowledge of Progressive Web Applications (PWA) development.

● Excellent communication and organizational skills.

● Ability to work effectively in both team settings and independently with minimal supervision.

● Prior experience in developing web applications, preferably with a focus on data visualization or dashboard development.

● Design experience and UI/UX knowledge are advantageous but not mandatory.
