Description:

The Student Office Assistant is the first point of contact for students who are meeting with non-clinical case managers or withdrawal support. You will need to be able to communicate information to and from students cordially while maintaining confidentiality with private information. You will talk to students, parents, and staff in person, over the phone, and over email to schedule appointments, answer questions, and direct them to the correct department. This will allow you to become well-acquainted with other offices on campus. This is a friendly and fast-paced work environment with multiple duties. This position requires patience, understanding, and positivity. You will encounter SUU students, staff, & faculty from many different backgrounds, so it is imperative that you are kind and respectful. This position is for Work Study eligible students only. Please check your FAFSA and make sure you are eligible before applying. Responsibilities: Answering/making phone calls to current & potential students for appointment scheduling and department referrals, with clear communication to various departments, faculty, staff, & students. Assist the front desk in the Student Affairs Vice President's office as needed. Assist in responding to emails for support and withdrawal requests. Secondary Responsibilities: Maintain office cleanliness and supplies, retrieve mail, and perform occasional errands around campus as needed. Participate actively on institutional organizations and committees; work collaboratively with Student Affairs’ department heads to improve services to students. * Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Remain in good standing with the university in academics and conduct.
  • Willingness to learn new skills.
  • Proven self-motivation and organizational abilities to plan and independently execute projects/tasks within specific deadlines.
  • Basic computer skills, including knowledge of Google Suites.
  • Demonstrated ability to interact effectively with students, parents, and families with proper email and phone communication/etiquette.
  • Outstanding written, verbal and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to be respectful, understanding, and de-escalate/remain calm in stressful situations
  • Experience working with diverse students, parents, families, and committees; work collaboratively with Student Affairs’ department heads to improve services to students.
