Description:

Peer mentors at the SUU Disability Resource Center (DRC) work with a cohort of 5-8 students for the 2024-2025 academic year. Training will be offered at the beginning of Fall semester. Peer mentoring positions are for the full academic year

**Responsibilities:

Peer mentors coordinate, develop and instruct DRC students in one-on-one weekly meetings that could include topics such as:

Time management: creating and implementing a weekly academic and personal schedule.

Goal setting strategies and tracking.

Academic skill development: study strategies, exam preparedness.

Communication relating to social and academic situations.

Soft skills instruction, budgeting techniques, stress management techniques, and self-advocacy advice.

Campus tours and introduction to campus resources.

Resume and job search guidance.

Registration assistance, financial aid and scholarship applications.

Qualifications:

A current Junior or Senior with at least a 3.5 GPA, exceptional Sophomores may also be considered.

Must be available to work at least 10 hours a week for the entire academic school year (August 2024 - April 2025) If you cannot work the entire year for any reason, please do not apply.

Experience working with or desire to work with individuals with disabilities.
