Description:
The hydrologic technician will assist in field and computer applications in hydrology in support of a research project on streamflow recharge of the Parowan Valley aquifer system. Primary responsibilities will include assistance in the field with the primary supervisor (Dr. Erich Mueller) establishing hydrological monitoring sites in mountainous environments near Parowan, Utah, data input and processing on campus at SUU, and computer (preferably GIS) applications and data analysis on campus at SUU. The ideal candidate will have a major in Geology, Geosciences, or Environmental Science and be working on a capstone research project. Additional qualifications include the willingness to work outside in a variety of conditions, the ability to hike and carry moderately heavy equipment over uneven terrain, and a background in computer applications such as Excel and ArcGIS. Preferred qualifications include experience in streamflow measurements, basic surveying techniques, and a background in math and physics.
