Description:

This position is designed to give geology students hands-on experience working with identifying and cataloging fossils in the museum collection. The student will work under the direction of professors in the Geosciences department and report to the Frehner Museum’s museum manager.

In order to apply for this position you must:

  • Be enrolled as an SUU student
  • Be willing to work at least 10 hours per week
  • Provide a resume, cover letter, and transcript of courses
  • Responsibilities:
  • Organizing fossils in the museum collection
  • Updating and correcting information in the catalog
  • Taking digital photos of specimens to be uploaded to the online database
  • Labeling specimens
  • Co-curating an exhibit using part of the collections

Qualifications:

  • Geology major
  • Taken Paleontology (preferred, not required)
  • Have an interest in curation/specimen management
  • Ability to correctly identify and record fossils
