Description:

Position Overview: The School of Music is seeking responsible and enthusiastic student workers to serve as Stage and Door Managers for recitals and concerts throughout the semester. This is a great opportunity for students with a passion for live music, event coordination, and supporting performance production behind the scenes.

Stage and Door Managers will play key roles in ensuring a smooth, professional, and welcoming environment for performers and guests alike.

Stage Manager Responsibilities:

Stand on stage at the beginning of each performance to:

Welcome the audience

  • Direct guests to digital or printed programs.
  • Remind the audience to silence phones and refrain from recording.

Assist performers by:

  • Adjusting music stands and chairs as needed.
  • Ensuring each performer is ready before they go on stage.
  • Support backstage logistics and transitions between performers.
  • Collaborate with Door Manager to ensure the event runs smoothly.

Door Manager Responsibilities:

  • Greet guests upon arrival and provide a welcoming atmosphere.
  • Manage the recital attendance sign-in sheet.

Monitor the entrance to the recital hall to:

  • Prevent guest entry during performances.
  • Allow entry during appropriate breaks or applause.
  • Conduct a headcount of attendees for internal reporting.
  • Assist with overall audience flow and experience.

Additional Details: Weekly hours vary based on recital/concert schedules (1–20 hours/week). Most recitals and concerts are scheduled for nights and weekends (Friday/Saturday). However, there will be a Friday student recital on most Fridays in the semester from 12pm-1pm. This job is for next school year (25/26).

Students will sign up for specific recitals and shifts based on availability.

Training will be provided before the first shift.

Qualifications:

Music Majors/Minors are preferred , but we welcome all students to apply.
