Description:

The Administrative Systems department is seeking to hire a Student Programmer to assist the Database Administrator. The goal of this position would be to assist in troubleshooting, testing, and developing dockerized applications and other projects as needed. The student programmer will be expected to work 10 to 20 hours a week and work remotely. Although hours will be flexible around the student’s schedule, it is desired that the student be able to dedicate multi-hour sections of time toward this position. Because this position requires technical training, it is desired that the student be able to work for several semesters. All work on SUU provided equipment using a VPN. Please provide a relevant letter of recommendation.

Qualifications:

  • Computer Science major (or similar).
  • General understanding of programming.
  • General understanding of web development concepts.
  • Ability to analyze error stack traces.
  • Ability to develop simple, maintainable, and well-documented solutions.
  • A will to learn, collaborate, and work on a task to completion.
  • Preferred: Django.
  • Preferred: Python.
  • Preferred: Git.
  • Preferred: Linux.
  • Desired: JavaScript.
  • Desired: jQuery.
  • Desired: Database SQL.
