Description:

Student Worker must be Work Study Eligible

Resource Sharing student assistants perform numerous procedures associated with processing new physical library materials and gift collections to make them available for in-library services for SUU faculty, staff, students and community members.

Procedures include, but are not limited to:

  • Receiving new and gifted books
  • Recording when items were received
  • Tracking invoices
  • Applying barcodes, stamps, labels, and jackets
  • Searching electronic databases for titles
  • Assisting with book sales
  • Receiving and processing journals

Qualifications:

  • Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and careful organization highly desirable. Student assistants are provided on-the-job training in the use of the Koha library system.
  • Must be dependable, punctual, self-motivated, detail-oriented, willing to learn, and able to work with or without direct supervision.
  • The requirements listed below include physical abilities required to complete essential duties.
  • Must be able to physically lift and carry boxes of books, approximately 35 lbs.
  • Ability to push and pull book carts.
  • Ability to carefully unpack and sort library materials, distinguish call numbers, and bend and reach books from shelves of differing heights
  • Student Worker must be Work Study Eligible
