Description:
As an Assistant to the English Department, you will provide essential support to the Administrative Assistant, Department Chair, faculty, and staff in completing day-to-day operational tasks. This role includes serving as a primary point of contact at the Departments front desk, offering excellent customer service to students, visitors, and university personnel.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist with routine administrative duties and departmental projects as assigned
- Monitor and respond to departmental emails and phone calls in a timely and professional manner
- Manage front desk operations, including greeting guests and directing inquiries to the appropriate personnel
- Receive, sort, and distribute incoming mail and packages throughout the department
- Support scheduling, document preparation, filing, and other clerical functions to ensure smooth daily work flow
Qualifications:
- Must be an enrolled SUU student for duration of employment in the English Department.
- Must be able to read, write and speak English fluently
- Basic computer skills required (Microsoft Word, Excel, Email etc.)
English Major / Minor preferred but not required
