Description:

The TRiO Student Support Service program serves 160 First-Generation, Low-Income, and Disabled students. SSS academic tutors are responsible for tutoring students who enter the lab. Tutors will work closely with SSS coordinators and mentors. Tutors will work 10-20 hours per week on a flexible schedule. Tutors are part of a collaborative team and will be asked to attend a bi-monthly team meeting scheduled around the team's schedule.

Qualifications:

  • Must have skills in at least one General Education area (Multiple areas preferred)
  • Understanding and ability to work closely with students enrolled in the SSS program.
  • Ability to be a positive role model for SSS students.
  • Ability to show empathy and patience to students while working with them.
  • Ability to advocate for fellow students as a team player.
  • Ability to work diligently at challenging tasks.
  • Self-motivation and the ability to work with limited direction and a lot of creativity. • Will model appropriate student behavior and understanding. • Experience working with, or a desire to learn how to work with, persons with disabilities. • Firm knowledge of SUU’s services, organizations, and clubs. • Actively engaged in SUU’s activities, events, and other opportunities.
