Description:
This internship is part of the Spring 2026 Professional Internship Program. To be eligible for the program you must:
- Be enrolled as an SUU student during the course of the internship.
- Have and maintain a GPA of 3.0 or higher.
- Be willing to work 10 to 20 hours per week.
The YEA/PREP Program Support Intern plays a key role in preparing and delivering two of SUU’s largest STEM outreach programs: the Youth Engineering Academy (YEA) and the Pre-Freshman Engineering Program (PREP). This internship offers hands-on experience with curriculum preparation, event logistics, instructional support, and program coordination. Interns work closely with the program director, gaining exposure to the full lifecycle of multi-week STEM education programs and developing skills well beyond typical student employment.
Responsibilities:
- Assist with planning, preparing, and organizing curriculum materials for YEA and PREP.
- Assemble and maintain instructional supplies, equipment, and classroom kits.
- Support logistical needs such as scheduling, room setup, inventory tracking, and participant communication.
- Help coordinate outreach efforts, including email communication, recruitment materials, and community partner interactions.
- Assist in developing staff training modules, orientation materials, and operational guides.
- Provide on-site program support during events, camps, and workshops as needed.
- Troubleshoot issues in real time, helping ensure smooth daily operations.
- Maintain accurate documentation, spreadsheets, and checklists related to program activities.
- Represent the program professionally when interacting with faculty, staff, students, parents, and industry partners.

- Experience in event planning, education, STEM activities, or youth programming (Preferred).
- Familiarity with Google Workspace, spreadsheets, and basic project management tools (Preferred).
- Interest in STEM education, leadership, teaching, or related fields.
- Previous involvement in outreach, summer camps, student leadership, or community programs. (Preferred)
