Description:

The Fishlake OHV Team Member supports trail maintenance, restoration, and public education projects related to off-highway vehicle (OHV) recreation on the Fishlake National Forest. This position focuses on safe and responsible OHV operation, trail improvement, and promoting environmental stewardship among public land users. Team members gain valuable hands-on experience in fieldwork, teamwork, and outdoor leadership while working under the supervision of a Fishlake OHV Team Leader.

Responsibilities:

  • Safely operate and maintain OHVs in rugged terrain.
  • Assist in maintaining, repairing, and constructing OHV trails and related infrastructure.
  • Assist with backing, attaching, loading, and unloading trailers carrying equipment and OHVs safely.
  • Help educate visitors on responsible recreation and “Tread Lightly!” principles.
  • Follow all IIC and partner agency safety policies and crew protocols.
  • Use and maintain trail tools and field equipment properly.
  • Support data collection and photo documentation of completed work.
  • Work effectively as part of a crew in remote field settings.
  • Camp overnight when required and maintain a safe, inclusive team environment.

Qualifications:

  • Must be age 18+
  • Must be a U.S. citizen
  • Must have a valid driver’s license
  • Incoming, current, or recent SUU students preferred
  • Preferred Qualifications:
  • Willingness to learn how to operate and maintain OHVs, trucks, and trailers safely and responsibly.
  • Interest in trail work, recreation management, or conservation.
  • Willingness to learn and apply “Tread Lightly!” and Leave No Trace principles.
  • Physically able to work long days outdoors in various weather and terrain conditions.
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills.
  • Ability to lift 30+ lbs. and hike short distances with gear.
  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent required; college coursework in recreation, environmental studies, or natural resources preferred.
  • Locals to the Sevier County, Richfield area preferred (no housing available)
