Description:

The Visual Information Specialist supports the creation and design of visual materials that communicate the mission, programs, and values of public land management agencies. This position assists with producing digital and print media such as brochures, posters, infographics, interpretive signs, and social media content. The role combines creativity and communication skills to help engage visitors, promote stewardship, and share the stories of our natural and cultural resources.

Responsibilities:

  • Design visual materials including brochures, flyers, signage, and digital graphics.
  • Assist with layout, editing, and formatting of publications, reports, and presentations.
  • Support photo and video documentation of projects, events, and fieldwork.
  • Maintain image libraries and digital media archives.
  • Create or update interpretive and informational displays for visitor centers or exhibits.
  • Collaborate with staff to ensure consistent branding and messaging across materials.
  • Help manage agency or program social media accounts and web content.
  • Contribute to outreach and communication campaigns promoting conservation and education.
  • Ensure accessibility and clarity in all visual communications.

Qualifications:

  • Must be age 18+
  • Must be a U.S. citizen
  • Must have a valid driver’s license
  • Incoming, current, or recent SUU student preferred

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Coursework or experience in graphic design, communications, media, or a related field.
  • Proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign) or similar tools.
  • Strong attention to detail, design principles, and visual storytelling.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple design tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Interest in conservation, education, and public communication.

Education: High school diploma or equivalent required; college coursework in visual communications, graphic design, or related fields preferred.

Schedule: 8 hr days, 5 days a week. Schedule may be variable (early/late). May work weekends.
