Description:

This internship provides hands-on experience in National Park Service resource management. Interns will assist with a variety of field-based projects, including vegetation monitoring, wildlife observations, and other natural resource initiatives, while working alongside park staff. This position offers mentored training and exposure to the day-to-day operations of resource management at Cedar Breaks National Monument. Four, 10hr Shifts, No Housing Available

Responsibilities:

  • Assist with a variety of field-based natural resource projects, including vegetation and wildlife monitoring
  • Collect, record, and manage data following established protocols
  • Support field logistics such as equipment setup, maintenance, and site access
  • Collaborate with park staff and partners on project work
  • Follow safety procedures while working in rugged, high-elevation environments
  • Interest in natural resource management, biology, ecology, or a related field
  • Ability to work outdoors in variable weather conditions and at high elevation (10,000+ ft)
  • Willingness to perform physical fieldwork, including hiking over uneven terrain
  • Attention to detail and ability to follow data collection protocols
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Strong communication and organizational skills
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to pass a federal background check

Qualifications:

  • Interest in natural resource management, biology, ecology, or a related field
  • Ability to work outdoors in variable weather conditions and at high elevation (10,000+ ft)

Located at over 10,000 feet, Cedar Breaks National Monument offers a unique high-elevation field setting with diverse projects ranging from alpine vegetation and wildlife monitoring to restoration efforts.
