Description:

This internship is part of the Summer 2026 Professional Internship Program. The SUU PREP & Youth Engineering Academy (YEA) Teaching position supports two of SUU’s premier summer STEM outreach programs. This combined role provides academically rigorous instruction for middle school students through SUU PREP as well as engaging STEM experiences for K–12 students through YEA. Responsibilities:

  • Be enrolled as an SUU student during the course of the internship.
  • Have and maintain a GPA of 3.0 or higher.
  • Be willing to work 10 to 20 hours per week.
  • Provide thoughtful responses in your application.

Qualifications:

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to collaborate effectively with fellow instructors and program leadership.
  • Ability to create an inclusive, supportive, and culturally responsive learning environment.
  • Ability to manage hands-on, project-based, or technology-rich learning environments.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to adjust quickly in fast-paced or changing situations.
  • Reliability, punctuality, and strong organizational skills.
  • Ability to follow and enforce safety procedures, risk management policies, and behavioral expectations.
  • Comfortable supervising students during transitions, outdoor activities, and field trips.
  • Willingness to learn new technologies, curricula, and instructional strategies.
  • Positive attitude, flexibility, and a willingness to step in and support team needs as they arise.
  • CPR/First Aid certification (preferred).
  • Experience working with K–12 students in camps, classrooms, tutoring, mentoring, or extracurricular settings (preferred).
