Description:

We are seeking a highly organized, detail-oriented, and empathetic academic scholarship intern to join our financial aid and scholarships team. In this role, you will play a crucial part in administering our scholarship programs, guiding students through the application process, and processing deferment applications.

We are looking for someone who is a self starter, detail oriented, and someone who is passionate about helping students achieve their educational goals.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide helpful, appropriate, and accurate information on financial aid opportunities and requirements.
  • Communicate detailed information to fellow students, parents, and SUU employees.
  • Ensure the overall quality and accuracy of all information leaving the office.
  • Assist with processing scholarship deferments.
  • Prepare materials for a scholarship committee review.

Qualifications:

  • Able to work year round (spring, summer, fall).
  • Be a student at SUU.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • SUU work-study eligible.
  • Excellent customer service skills, maintaining confidentiality and a friendly, positive demeanor even in difficult situations.
  • Skilled in the use of personal computers, including essential record-keeping and word processing.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
  • Have experience working in or with Financial Aid.
  • Strong initiative, work ethic, integrity, and reliability.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple competing priorities and work under pressure in a fast-paced environment with frequent interruptions.
  • Initiative to quickly learn the needed financial aid information.
  • Ability to maintain confidence and work cooperatively with students, parents, faculty, and staff.
