Description:

The Engineering Student Intern will assist with hands-on, project-based learning activities in an introductory engineering course. The intern will support classroom activities focused on mechanical, civil, and electrical engineering concepts while mentoring first-year engineering students. This position provides valuable experience in teaching, leadership, teamwork, and engineering design.

This internship is part of the Fall 2024 Professional Internship Program. To be eligible for the program you must:

  • Be enrolled as an SUU student during the course of the internship.
  • Have and maintain a GPA of 3.0 or higher.
  • Be willing to work 10 to 20 hours per week.
  • Provide thoughtful responses in your application.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist the instructor with preparing materials, setting up laboratory and design activities, and maintaining equipment.
  • Mentor student teams during design projects by answering questions, demonstrating engineering concepts, and encouraging effective teamwork and problem-solving.
  • Help evaluate student work, provide constructive feedback, and assist with classroom organization and project demonstrations.

Qualifications:

  • Current SUU engineering student in good academic standing with strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Completed introductory engineering coursework and demonstrated proficiency in engineering design and problem-solving.
  • Dependable, organized, and enthusiastic about mentoring students while working collaboratively with faculty and peers.

The class for this position is held on Tuesdays and Thursdays from September 3rd to October 15th. Ideally, I would need the intern to be available on these days.
