Description:

This position provides an opportunity to gain experience in photography and video production, helping to document campus life, events, and achievements. This role contributes to shaping the university's visual identity and narrative.We seeking a photographer for the student news organization. This position requires attending many campus evening and weekend events.

Responsibilities:

  • Photograph assigned campus events, athletics, performances, and news stories for the University Journal and SUU News.
  • Attend the Monday all-staff meeting for weekly assignments, plus scheduled trainings.
  • Research each story in advance and confirm priority shots with the assigning editor.
  • Submit edited images by the deadline set for the story they accompany.
  • Caption, credit, and upload finished files to the shared Drive.
  • Follow the accuracy and ethics standards in the Journal Staff Handbook.

Qualifications:

  • Experience photographing live events: sports, performances, or news.
  • Portfolio showing subjects in motion and in low light.
  • Available evenings and weekends.
  • Consistent record of meeting deadlines.
  • Able to take direction from student editors.
