Description:

The Admissions/Advancement Department is seeking student employees for the Online Admissions Recruitment Student Worker position. They would be a significant ambassador of Southern Utah University that is responsible for the recruitment and mentoring of prospective and current undergraduate online students. Admissions Assistants guide individuals through the process of understanding undergraduate programs including the realities of life as a traditional and non-traditional online student. Duties include recruitment, student admittance to SUU, and registration for classes.

Much of the assistant’s time will be spent interacting by telephone and email. The position entails guiding individuals through a process that can seem daunting. Outreach and communication are outbound and inbound. Sales experience is helpful. To properly achieve results, it is required that the Admissions Assistant work at least 20 hours a week during the academic year and 32-40 hours a week during the summer semester.

Assistants should be highly motivated, have a professional demeanor, and have strong communication skills when interacting with staff, faculty, and administration; they should be inclined to work with a high level of engagement in a professional office.

Qualifications:

-Hold the university in great esteem.

-Know the benefits of higher education on employment and personal achievement.

-Customer service or advising experience entailing one on one interaction is highly sought and is used for primary interactions from a distance (phone, email, and so forth).

-Skills related to cold-calling and one-on-one sales are preferred.

-Must possess a high level of interpersonal and communication skills to accurately and ethically convey university information as described above.

-Must be self-motivated with the ability to work effectively in a team environment and perform tasks independently.

-Must be student-oriented and have the ability to perform multiple tasks efficiently and effectively.

-Experience with Banner, CRMs (Radius, Slate, et al), Airtable, and Google Drive/Microsoft Office tools preferred.
