Description:

The Intergovernmental Internship Cooperative (IIC) is a partnership between Southern Utah University, federal land management agencies (Bureau of Land Management, U.S. Forest Service, and National Park Service), and native American tribes of southern Utah, northern Arizona, and eastern Nevada. The IIC is housed under SUU’s Office of Regional Services. Together, the partnership has developed and continues to develop, challenging, paid internship opportunities for students and recent graduates, in a diversity of exciting professional fields. The IIC program mentors interns, providing “real world” work experience that complements students’ academic pursuits and helps prepare them for a successful career.

This Internship is based in a fast-paced environment and has the ability to expand an individual’s knowledge, experience, and skill set in professional accounting and administrative fields. Previous interns in the position have gone on to prestigious career positions in accounting and other fields.

Primary duties include reading and interpreting financial data from multiple sources including federal and state agencies and SUU's financial system (Banner). Additionally, the position assists the IIC with tracking Interns, budgets, routine clerical duties, and managing office purchasing cards. This internship may also work on the ground at partner worksites and other IIC events/functions as needed. Additional duties may be assigned as necessary.

Qualifications:

  • Junior or Senior accounting, finance, or business major preferred.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office and Google Suite programs.
  • Proficient in Excel.
  • Experience with university financial software (Banner).
  • Helpful.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Comfortable talking to students, professors, and agency representatives in person, on the phone, and via email.
  • Willing to work in a flexible work environment.
  • Strong work ethic and positive attitude.
