Description:

This position is for Fall/Spring/Summer and will start August 12th. Responsibilities can depend on whether the employee is working as a clerk, delivery carrier, or in another area, but some common postal duties for clerks and delivery carriers include:

  • Responsible for mail pickup and delivery on campus
  • Sorting mail
  • Counter/window help as needed
  • Bulk mailings
  • Pick up/Deliver mail to Cedar City Post Office

Qualifications:

Required:

  • Good people skills and must be dependable and reliable.
  • Must be able to multi-task and be willing to learn a variety of tasks.
  • Must be detail oriented.
  • Have experience with window computer applications (Microsoft Word, Excel, etc.)
  • Safe work practices, including procedures for lifting, storing and transporting heavy loads.
  • Must have a valid Utah Driver’s License.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Sort and collate mail.
  • Place mail in proper buckets for distribution.
  • Sort mail such as incoming/returned letters, post cards, bills, orders, and payments.
  • Complete incorrect returned mail.
  • Receive outgoing mail and apply correct postage.
  • Pickup of incoming / outgoing mail at the Cedar City Post Office.
  • Stamp mail with postage meters.
  • Weigh mail to determine correct postage.
  • Place mail in bins and perform delivery services of in-house mail, including delivery to SUU administrative offices and off-campus departments and offices.
  • Deliver miscellaneous items to departments and offices on and off campus, including large mail packages, shipping and receiving items, computer printer paper, etc.
  • Pick up US mail at local post office.
  • Transport US mail and bulk mailings to local post office.
  • Prepare bulk mailings as necessary.
  • Ensure office is adequately stocked with mail supplies.
  • Use Computer and scanning machines.
  • Basic math skills are a must.
  • Cashier experience helpful but will train.
  • Operate standard postal machines.
  • Communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.
  • Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with those contacted in the course of work.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
