Description:

  • The Non-Traditional Peer Mentor is responsible for being able to put themselves in our student’s shoes and advocate/mentor for them as necessary
  • Be patient, empathetic, and be passionately communicative. Excellent service standards are crucial to our department
  • Exemplify personality with a dynamic professional attitude towards our students and provide friendly service and solid student support
  • Be confident at troubleshooting and investigate if they do not have enough information to resolve the problem
  • Always make sure we are greeting and acknowledging anyone who walks through the door, calls, or emails
  • This position is responsible for ensuring that all tasks relating to the office and the programs we offer are completed accurately and in a timely manner, and requires coordinating with various individuals and organizations both on and off campus
  • Assists with marketing, event planning and execution, social media, and data collection

Qualifications:

  • Non-Traditional student preferred
  • Current enrollment at Southern Utah University
  • Dedicated, hardworking individual who is enthusiastic in demonstrating the 'SUU Way' as well as ensuring the success and retention of non-traditional students
  • Ability to articulate ideas and facts and be informative to others about the programs and resources offered
  • Demonstrate a sincere concern for others and their well-being
  • Ability to speak in a positive, engaging, and interactive manner
  • Ability to function in a group, both as a leader and a supportive team member
  • Computer and word processing skills with efficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel/Word), Canva, and Google drive with ability to create/design advertising materials
  • Excellent people and communication skills, as well as technical writing skills
