Description:

The VR/AR Innovation Studio at SUU is looking for a motivated and creative student to assist with developing virtual reality (VR) and augmented reality (AR) projects. In this role, you'll gain hands-on experience working with immersive technologies and help create innovative VR/AR applications for research, teaching, and outreach projects. This is a great opportunity for students passionate about technology and looking to build skills in game development, 3D modeling, and user experience design.

Some key responsibilities include:

Develop VR/AR Experiences: Collaborate with the team to design, prototype, and implement interactive VR and AR applications for various academic disciplines (e.g., education, research, outreach).

Software Development: Write, test, and maintain code for VR/AR applications using tools like Unity, Unreal Engine, or similar platforms. Assist in the integration of APIs, assets, and data into immersive environments.

3D Modeling & Asset Creation: Help create or optimize 3D models, textures, and assets for use in VR/AR applications (knowledge of tools like Blender, Maya, or 3ds Max is a plus).

User Interface & Experience Design: Assist in designing intuitive user interfaces and enhance user experience within VR/AR environments to ensure usability and engagement.

Hardware Setup & Testing: Support the setup, configuration, and testing of VR/AR hardware and equipment, including headsets, controllers, and tracking systems.

Collaboration & Feedback: Work with faculty, staff, and other student developers to refine and improve VR/AR projects. Provide feedback and suggestions for project enhancements.

Documentation: Maintain clear and concise documentation for code, assets, and development processes to ensure knowledge sharing and long-term project sustainability.

Qualifications:

Currently Enrolled Student: Must be a full-time student at SUU in a related program (e.g., Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Engineering).

Technical Skills: Basic knowledge of programming (C#, C++, or similar), and familiarity with VR/AR development tools (Unity, Unreal, ARKit, ARCore).

Problem-Solving: Strong ability to troubleshoot and think creatively.

Communication: Clear communication skills to work well in a team.

Interest in VR/AR: A genuine interest in VR/AR technologies and a willingness to learn.

Preferred Skills (Not Required): Previous VR/AR Experience: Experience working on VR/AR projects, either academic or personal.

3D Graphics Knowledge: Understanding of 3D modeling and rendering.

Hardware Experience: Familiarity with VR/AR hardware (e.g., Oculus, HTC Vive).
