Description:

Southern Utah University's Aviation Maintenance Training program is seeking two qualified candidates to intern with the SUU Aviation Maintenance department. These interns must be in the Aviation Maintenance Training Program and must have their generals written exam completed. This will be a 2 semester position with a potential 3rd semester at the discretion of the Director of Maintenance. There will be a 30 day probationary period to make sure it's a right fit with the maintenance department. This position can be terminated at any time if the Maintenance Management Team deems necessary. We are looking for someone who is self motivated, has initiative, is innovative, mechanically inclined, eager to learn, and well organized. The chosen candidate will work with SUU's Aviation Maintenance Department in a student worker status. The tasks assigned will be primarily assisting maintenance teams with maintaining a clean work environment, parts/tools running, cleaning aircraft cowlings/panels, etc. The applicant will also be introduced to aircraft maintenance under the supervision of certified mechanics.

  • Intern will report to SUU maintenance management for Schedule
  • Assist in the scheduled and unscheduled maintenance of the SUU fleet aircraft.
  • Will be assigned to a Team of SUU Aviation mechanics
  • Will follow all Aviation Policies and Procedures

Qualifications:

  • Full-Time SUU AMT Student
  • Good Standing in School with 3.0 GPA.
  • Must submit Letter of Recommendation from an AMT Instructor.
  • General knowledge and understanding of asset inventory.
  • General knowledge of cleaning and organizing tools, equipment, and assets.
  • Self motivated and can work independently.
  • Effective communicator.
  • Must show proof of pass rate of 70% or better on generals written.
