Description: SUU Outdoors at Southern Utah University is your on-campus resource to engage, explore, and experience the world-renowned landscapes around campus. LEAP Leaders oversee the operations of the Local Events, Activities, and Programming at SUU Outdoors. This includes guiding the events and activities that are planned and assisting with advertising for these events. Events include hiking, slacklining, wallyball, mountain biking, disc golf, yoga, and more! LEAP Leaders also help oversee the Outdoor Education Series (OES) throughout the semester. The LEAP Leader reports to the SUU Outdoors Coordinator and assists in overseeing the development of peers and students.

Responsibilities Include

Assist SUU Outdoors Coordinator with planning, marketing, and organizing trips. Be prepared and committed to the event you are in charge of. Work with SUU Outdoors Coordinator to develop the events schedule for each semester. Be knowledgeable of all University policies and be willing to enforce and uphold them. Meet with SUU Outdoors Coordinator to ensure the success of the LEAP Program in the broader scope of SUU Outdoors’ Mission and Vision. Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Must be a current University student in good academic standing.
  • Dependable and trustworthy.
  • Excellent people and communication skills.
  • Ability to work with all ages, groups, and supervision over peers.
  • Ability to bring energy and excitement to the group event.

Time Commitment - Attend meetings, one on ones, and events scheduled. - Supervision and direction over special events. - Scheduled classes, programs, and events on campus or around Cedar City.
