Description:

The Department of Agriculture and Nutrition is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Research and Statistical Assistant to support graduate students in designing, implementing, and analyzing statistical methods for their Graduate Capstone Projects. Additionally, the Assistant will provide statistical assistance to graduate professor. This position offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in research design and statistical analysis while contributing to the success of the department’s academic programs. Part-time 6-8 hours per week (with a flexible schedule between, Monday-Friday, 8 a.m. - 5 p.m.) and follows the university schedule.

This position will begin in Fall 2025.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with graduate students to assist in designing statistical methods and conducting data analysis for their Capstone Projects.
  • Provide support to graduate students and faculty with statistical tasks, including data management, data analysis, statistical modeling, and interpretation of results.
  • Assist in research activities, such as literature reviews, research design, and preparing materials for publication or presentation.
  • Offer consultation and guidance on software tools (e.g., SPSS, R, SAS, Excel) used for statistical analysis.
  • Support professors in classroom preparation and grading assignments involving statistical concepts.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by faculty or the Dietetics program director to support the overall goals and mission of the department.

Qualifications:

  • Enrolled as a Student at Southern Utah University.
  • Strong understanding of statistical concepts and familiarity with statistical analysis software (e.g., SPSS, R, SAS, or equivalent).
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and time-management skills.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team setting.
  • Prior experience in research or statistical analysis is required.
  • Work Study eligible are encouraged to apply.
  • Upper Division Nutrition Practicum Credit could also be earned.
