Description:

The Hunter Alumni Center House Manager plays a vital role within the division of Guest Services. The student employee is responsible for overseeing events scheduled in the Hunter Alumni Center outside of regular business hours, under the supervision of Guest Services. This individual will work closely with Guest Services staff, including event coordinators and Centralized Scheduling office staff. The House Manager is responsible for providing quality customer service during events that may be scheduled before 8am and after 5pm on weekdays, anytime on weekends (may include a rare Sunday), and on those times when campus is open, but classes are not held.

Hours will vary from week to week, depending on events scheduled. Some weeks may be less than 10 hours. Other weeks may require 20 hours. Students may not work more than 20 hours per week.

This position requires professional dress.

Direct responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Greet and assist event guests at arrival and assist with any issues throughout events, as needed.
  • Address guest inquiries, concerns, and complaints in a professional and timely manner.
  • Serve as a liaison between guests and Guest Services staff.
  • Report maintenance issues, damages, and safety hazards to Guest Services staff. Submit nightly reports or shift summaries as required.
  • Work collaboratively with campus security and other departments during incidents.

Qualifications:

  • Must be a currently enrolled student at Southern Utah University.
  • Previous experience in hospitality, or customer service preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to handle emergencies and multitask in a somewhat fast-paced environment.
  • Familiarity with the campus layout and policies is a plus.
  • Must be available for flexible hours, including some early mornings, evenings and some weekends.
  • Willing and able to work during campus breaks, when needed.
  • Must have strong communication skills both verbally and in writing and be able to converse with diverse populations.
  • Ability to present oneself professionally when dealing with others.
  • Must demonstrate initiative by staying productive during slow periods and seek additional responsibilities if needed.
