Description:

The Southern Utah University Health and Wellness Website Writer will report directly to the Assistant Director of Health & Wellness, and represent the Recreation and Wellness Department. The Website Writer (WW) will support the Health & Wellness Center in its efforts to promote holistic health and suicide prevention awareness by reporting on health and wellness and suicide prevention related topics on the Health and Wellness website's blog. Additionally, the WW will report on and assist with Health and Wellness Center events and programming to increase the reach and impact of these events. The WW will also provide assistance to the Health and Wellness Center by assisting students in locating the proper resources to address any health and wellness concern including; mental health, physical health, substance abuse, sexual health choices, and managing stress.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Produce write ups that cover Health and Wellness Center events.

  • Provide written articles on up-to-date and evidence based research surrounding health and wellness topics broadly and suicide prevention specifically.

  • Assist in the creation and execution of suicide prevention programming and events on campus.

  • Work up to but no more than 20 hours per week, greeting and directing people that come into the Health & Wellness Center.

Qualifications:

  • Preference will be given to students with a major in English, Communications, Psychology and/or those who have health & wellness experience and/or who would like to pursue a career in mental health, prevention, counseling, or a related field.

  • Excellent skills in facilitation, organization, and verbal and written communication.

  • Demonstrate ability to assist students on a variety of holistic health and wellness issues.

  • Ability to maintain effective working relations with other campus and community resources.

  • Ability to work independently, follow-up on assignments, and take initiative.
