Description:

This internship is part of the Spring 2026 Professional Internship Program. To be eligible for the program you must:

Be enrolled as an SUU student during the course of the internship. Have and maintain a GPA of 3.0 or higher. Be willing to work 10 to 20 hours per week.

The Nursing Lab and Office Assistant provides support to the Nursing Department by assisting with laboratory setup and maintenance, preparing instructional materials, and performing general office and clerical duties. This position helps ensure a safe, organized, and efficient learning environment for students and faculty in both the nursing lab and administrative offices.

Responsibilities:

  • Set up and break down lab equipment and supplies for nursing skills sessions and simulations.
  • Must be able to lift and move objects independently, up to 25 pounds.
  • Must be okay with exposure to simulated blood, medical instruments, and other materials used for training realism.
  • May involve potential exposure to bloodborne pathogens. Training and protective equipment will be provided in compliance with OSHA Bloodborne Pathogens Standard.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of lab spaces and storage areas.
  • Restock supplies and report low inventory levels or damaged equipment.
  • Greet visitors, students, and faculty in the Nursing Office and provide general assistance.
  • Answer phones, take messages, and respond to basic inquiries.
  • File, photocopy, scan, and organize departmental documents.
  • Maintain confidentiality of student and departmental information.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Nursing Lab Coordinator or Office Supervisor.

Qualifications:

  • Current college student in good academic standing (Non-nursing majors only)
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Reliable, responsible, and able to work independently or as part of a team.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and general office equipment.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
