Position Overview

The Social Media & Communications Intern will support the Chamber’s digital presence across Facebook, Instagram, and LinkedIn. This role focuses on promoting Chamber events, sharing member announcements, and strengthening engagement with the Iron County business community.

This position is ideal for a student pursuing marketing, communications, public relations, business, or a related field who wants hands-on experience in community-based economic development marketing.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop engaging, professional content for Facebook, Instagram, and LinkedIn
  • Promote Chamber events and programs
  • Share member announcements and events
  • Assist in drafting captions, graphics, and short-form video content
  • Ensure brand consistency in tone, visuals, and messaging
  • Engage with member businesses’ posts to increase visibility and strengthen relationships
  • Track performance metrics across platforms (reach, engagement, clicks, shares, saves)
  • Identify which types of posts, formats, and topics generate the most engagement

Qualifications:

  • Strong written communication skills with professional tone
  • Familiarity with Facebook, Instagram, and LinkedIn for business use
  • Understanding of social media analytics and engagement metrics
  • Experience with Canva or similar graphic design tools preferred
  • Basic understanding of short-form video content (Reels/Stories) preferred
  • Organized and able to manage multiple deadlines independently
  • Interest in community development, local business, or economic growth is a plus
