Description:
The Student Cashier at the SUU Campus Store provides exceptional customer service while accurately processing transactions in a fast-paced retail environment. This role supports daily store operations, enhances the customer experience for students, faculty, staff, and visitors, and contributes to a welcoming and efficient campus retail atmosphere.
Responsibilities:
- Greet and assist customers in a friendly, professional, and approachable manner.
- Accurately process purchases, returns, and exchanges using The Hello POS point-of-sale system.
- Handle cash, credit/debit, and mobile payments in accordance with store policies.
- Maintain a balanced cash drawer and ensure transaction accuracy at all times.
- Answer customer questions regarding store merchandise, promotions, and policies.
- Assist with stocking shelves, organizing displays, and maintaining store cleanliness.
- Develop and maintain proficiency in Apple products and services in order to effectively assist customers, provide informed recommendations, and support the successful sale of Apple merchandise.
- Support textbook and course material distribution during peak periods.
- Collaborate with team members and supervisors to ensure efficient store operations.
- Follow all university and store policies, including loss prevention procedures.
Qualifications:
- Current student enrolled at Southern Utah University.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Basic math and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to handle transactions accurately and responsibly.
- Dependable, punctual, and able to work independently and as part of a team.
- Previous retail or customer service experience preferred, but not required.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 25 pounds.
- Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, holidays, and peak periods (e.g., start of semester, athletic events).
