Description:

  • Set-up, run, and take-down the SUU Mobile Planetarium at local elementary and middle schools
  • Learn and present scripted planetarium shows to elementary and middle school audiences
  • Help plan, communicate, market, oversee, and manage event details for Family “STEM in the Field” Events, and the Southern Utah Science and Engineering Fair
  • Occasionally assist with other on-campus STEM events including field trips, Wonder Wednesday, and Toddler Tuesday

Positions available for work-study and non work-study students

Additional Information: Ideal candidate will have a 4+ hour block of time either in the morning or afternoon on Wednesday or Thursday to help with the planetarium shows at local elementary schools, most Thursday evenings (5-9 pm) required at events, as well as the third Wednesday of every month from 4-6 pm. Please include a cover letter, resume, AND school schedule for Fall Semester.

Qualifications:

  • Some astronomy experience preferred, but not required
  • Must have good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Proficient in Google Workspace
  • Must be able to pass a background check through ICSD
  • Dependability and punctuality a must
  • Must be able to lift 40-50 lbs
  • Must have a valid driver's license and transportation to travel to work locations at Elementary schools in Cedar City and Enoch
