Description:

This position is for a virtual-and-augmented reality student developer on Campus. Our VR/AR Innovation Studio features a suite of development software and equipment to support faculty, students and community initiatives to develop programs which utilize XR technology. Many of our visitors ask for proof of concept or are interested in tours featuring the other experiential equipment we have, such as the Meta Quest and HTC Vive headsets as well as the Zspace stereoscopic laptop and Artec 3D model scanner. A candidate will be expected to pivot to alternative tasks throughout the semester, to include supporting the VR/AR Classroom with engagement and demo events across campus.

Responsibilities

Continuous Learning: Improving programming skills through independent courses, training modules, and certificate programs when not working on immediate projects.

Communication & Support: Assisting with faculty or business initiatives, which involves explaining complex programming concepts to non-technical audiences.

Space Maintenance:Keeping the tech development environment and equipment clean and organized for visitors and collaborating student workers.

Qualifications:

  • Able to report to an assigned shift on-time with occasional early arrivals Flexibility with participating in campus events as-needed
  • Able commute to and across campus
  • Able to wear and work using a VR headset for up to 2 hours a day
  • Able to lift and carry 20lbs to include reaching above shoulder-height
  • Can demonstrate knowledge of design, front-end & back-end coding languages
  • Understanding of Android and IOS mobile programming
  • Experience with the following programs: Unity, Blender, C#, GitHub, Photoshop / Substance Painter
  • History of development experience (gamejams or modding)
  • Able to work with small teams or independently without supervision at times
  • Familiarity with a variety of XR equipment, primarily Meta and Apple products and can reliably troubleshoot errors in associated hardware
  • Interest in technology and a fondness for exploring and staying educated on new technological and logistical developments in the field.
  • Experience supporting clients and visitors unfamiliar with XR hardware and software: Zspace, Artec, Meta Quest Series ,HTC Vive
  • Engaging and friendly to visitors and co-workers
