Description:

The Parking Attendant is responsible for ensuring the efficient and compliant use of Southern Utah University's campus parking lots. This hourly position involves patrolling designated areas and accurately issuing parking citations for violations throughout the academic year, in all weather conditions. Attendants play a key role in maintaining orderly parking and supporting campus safety.

Responsibilities:

  • Patrol Campus Lots: Regularly monitor assigned parking areas on foot or by vehicle to identify parking violations.
  • Issue Citations: Accurately issue parking citations for violations in accordance with university parking regulations.
  • Customer Assistance: Provide basic information and directions to campus visitors and students regarding parking policies and lot locations.
  • Observe & Report: Identify and report any unusual or suspicious activities, hazards, or maintenance needs in parking areas to appropriate personnel.
  • Record Keeping: Maintain accurate records of patrols and citations issued.
  • Work Independently: Perform duties effectively with minimal direct supervision.
  • We work 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Monday through Friday and hours are flexible around class schedules.
  • We only work while school in session so Campus Holidays and Fall, Thanksgiving, Holiday, and Spring Breaks are time off.

Qualifications:

  • Must be punctual, observant, dependable, and detail oriented.
  • Must be willing to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
  • Must have strong computer skills for data input.
  • Position is available for Work Study or Regular Hourly.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Responsible, reliable, and dependable individual.
  • Self-motivated with excellent communication abilities.
  • Strong judgment skills to accurately assess situations and apply parking regulations.
  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
  • Willingness and ability to work outdoors in all kinds of weather conditions (e.g., heat, cold, rain, snow).
  • For Work Study Applicants: Must meet federal work-study eligibility requirements and be a currently enrolled SUU student in good academic standing.
  • For Regular Hourly Applicants: Previous experience in a similar role or customer service is a plus. *
