Description:
The intern will support faculty in developing the proposed B.S. in Environmental and Natural Resources Engineering within the College of Engineering and Computational Sciences. The position will focus on curriculum research, degree-map development, course comparison, program documentation, and coordination of planning materials.The intern will gain direct experience with academic program development.
This internship is part of the Fall 2024 Professional Internship Program. To be eligible for the program you must:
- Be enrolled as an SUU student during the course of the internship.
- Have and maintain a GPA of 3.0 or higher.
- Be willing to work 10 to 20 hours per week.
Responsibilities:
- Review comparable environmental and natural-resources engineering programs and summarize their curricula, courses, laboratories, and emphasis areas.
- Assist with reviewing and updating the four-year degree map, course sequence, prerequisites, credit totals, and proposed emphasis pathways.
- Organize information about existing SUU courses, laboratories, software, equipment, and faculty expertise that could support the degree.
- Help prepare tables, spreadsheets, presentations, meeting materials, and concise planning reports.
- Assist with documenting regional workforce needs and potential career pathways related to water, energy, infrastructure, environmental protection, and natural resources.
- Maintain organized project files and provide brief progress updates during weekly meetings.
Qualifications:
- Must be a senior Civil Engineering major.
- Must still have at least one full academic year left to complete at SUU.
- Must be available to work consistently for approximately 10-20 hours per week during Fall 2026.
- Must have strong organizational, research, technical-writing, spreadsheet, and communication skills.
- Should be dependable, detail-oriented, able to meet deadlines, and interested in environmental engineering, water resources, energy, or academic program development.
- Experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, technical reports, or curriculum research is preferred.
