Description:

Research Analytic Interns will serve as a part of an innovative research analytic team to support data-driven projects at the Sponsored Programs, Agreements, Research, and Contracts (SPARC) Office at Southern Utah University. Interns will use data analysis, artificial intelligence, and operations research to help improve departmental processes, solve complex problems, and complete high-impact special projects. Interns will report to the Data Scientist and collaborate with campus partners as required.

Qualifications:

Goal-Oriented Problem-Solver:

  • Demonstrates developing problem-solving ability, and able to complete clearly defined tasks. Able to set priorities, manage time effectively, and complete work with support.

Professional Communicator:

  • Capable of communicating clearly with peers and supervisors. Receptive to feedback, and willing to ask questions and participate in team discussion.

Skilled Analyst:

  • Proficient in at least one of the following tools or concepts: Excel, Python, R, SQL, JavaScript, Tableau, GitHub, machine learning, business analytics, econometrics, or statistical modeling.

AI Explorer:

  • Has basic familiarity with artificial intelligence tools and concepts for simple tasks. Demonstrates curiosity and willingness to learn how artificial intelligence can support data science solutions.

Reliable Employee:

  • Meets core workplace expectations with minimal reminders, including punctuality, adherence to policy, organization, and clear communication. Open to feedback and improving work habits.
