What I Wish I Had Known

The Office of Orientation and First-Year Experience asked current students what campus facts they wish they would have known when they started at SUU. Here are a few of them:

  • There are professional counselors on campus who can listen and help with any number of issues. Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS) is free for all students. https://www.suu.edu/caps/

  • All bicycle permits are free https://www.suu.edu/parking/

  • Annual student parking permits cost $30 and can be purchased through your student portal https://www.suu.edu/parking/

  • You can pay all student expenditures through your student portal

  • You can only change your meal plan type during the first week on the semester https://new.dineoncampus.com/suu

  • You can check how many meals you have left on my plan during each semester at the Cashier's Office

  • Starving student cards are sold only the first two weeks of the fall semester for $20 in front of the Bookstore

  • SUU has scholarship housing available- learn how to apply at: https://www.suu.edu/finaid/scholarshiphousing.html

  • Your student ID card will get me into all home athletic events, the rock climbing wall, indoor track, basketball courts, pool, racquetball courts, music concerts, IT help, and 50 free outdoor trips each year

  • You can reserve study rooms in the Library for free http://suu.demo.libcal.com/booking/studyrooms

  • "Lost and Found" is located in the Copy and Post Center in the Library

  • Game Day shirts are sold in the Bookstore the beginning of Fall Semester

  • The student section is section K in the Centrum

  • All students can download Microsoft Office for free! https://my.suu.edu/it/office365

  • SUU has their own radio station Thunder 91.1 and you can schedule your own DJ time! http://www.power91radio.com/
