Our location in southern Utah puts us in the perfect position to take advantage of all that Mother Nature offers with more than 20 National Parks, Monuments, and Recreation Areas within a five-hour drive of campus. Hiking, climbing, skiing, snowboarding, snowshoeing, biking, camping... and so much more!
SUU Outdoors offers several different resources for you to get engaged with your surroundings:
SUU Rentals: At Basecamp (located inside the Student Center) SUU Outdoors have equipment you'd need to have an adventure in southern Utah at a student friendly price. https://www.suu.edu/outdoors/outdoor-center.html
Climbing: The Climbing Facility at Southern Utah University is 35 feet tall with several features to help you learn how to climb located in the SUU P.E. Building. SUU is located in premium rock climbing country and SUU Outdoors has the resources to help you learn. https://www.suu.edu/outdoors/rock-climbing-wall.html
Outdoor Trips: SUU Outdoors sponsors a range of adventures for current students throughout the school year. Students to go hiking, mountain biking, canyoneering, climbing, rafting, paddleboard, xc ski, and snowshoeing throughout the southern Utah region. We also run our Bigger, Badder, Radder trips program for students, faculty, and staff which take them to explore deeper into the backcountry surrounding SUU. https://www.suu.edu/outdoors/trips-and-adventures.html
SUU is committed to giving students every opportunity to explore their natural surroundings and excel outside of the classroom. Whether students get involved academically, recreationally or through volunteer efforts, their opportunities are endless at the University of the Parks.
