Donor Biography
Monty and Shannon both grew up in Cedar City and both graduated Cedar High school. They were married on Aug 9th, 1985. Both attended SUSC now SUU and are both graduates, both receiving a BS In Zoology. Monty played football all Five years and lettered all five years. After graduation Shannon was awarded an in-state scholarship to attend UMKC (University Missouri Kansas City), after four years of Dental School, she graduated 4th in her class.
Monty taught and coached at Park Hill High school for two years and then decided to attend UMKC during the last two years of Shannon's Dental School. He was a grad assistant for two years and ended up graduating two months after Shannon. The graduate thesis for his Masters in Biology was on Giardia lamblia.
They moved back to Cedar City, where Shannon has been practicing dentistry for 31 years. She was the first Female Dentist South of Salt Lake and north of Vegas. Monty taught and coached football at Parowan, Cedar, and ended up at Canyon View High. He taught for 34 years and has been retired from teaching since 2017. Now he is a full-time farmer and rancher.
Scholarship Criteria
Awarded to an outstanding junior or senior Biology major with a minimum 3.0 GPA. Preference will be given to students who are also studying music or on an athletic team.
The Biology Department requires additional information for any Biology scholarship. Please fill out the following form once per academic year to be considered for any Biology scholarships
