About This Scholarship

Donor Biography

John, who grew up in Hurricane, and Cleo, a Santa Clara native, met in 1943. They married a year later and began a family that eventually included seven children. John enjoyed a 30-year career with the Utah Department of Transportation in its engineering division. After their children were in High School Cleo enrolled at SUU in elementary education and music. In 1978 at the age of 51, Cleo graduated from SUU, three years later Cleo came back to SUU and earned her master's degree in education in 1981. She enjoyed nine years of teaching at Hurricane Elementary school. The LeBaron imprint on education is far-reaching. Four of the couple's children became teachers, as did several of Cleo's students instilling in a new generation the importance of learning, working hard and capitalizing on opportunities.
