Donor Biography
Scott Main Urie was born in 1917 in Cedar City Utah, Ruth was born 2 years later also in Cedar City. Scott and Ruth were married on December 23rd 1950.
In 1940 Scott served active duty in the local guard. He spent five years in World War II and three years in Korean war.
Scott and his friend Richard Stucki built their own auto repair shop named U & S motor company where he worked for most of his life.
Later in life Scott and Ruth spent 17 years over the Southern Indian Mission. Ruth passed away in 1990 later that year Scott was re-married to Lois Nelson.
Scott passed away in the year 2000. Both Scott and Ruth are buried in the Cedar City Cemetery they did not have any children.
Scott decided to create legacy endowments at Southern Utah University in 1989. He pledged over $160,000 to the University to continue a legacy of growth and learning.
Scholarship Criteria
Awarded to students who show a sincere desire to obtain a college education- as evidenced by them earning an amount equal to at least the first one-half of the tuition and fees required for their college education.
