About This Scholarship

Donor Biography

Robin Lynn Bishop was a pretty, young 23-year old college student living in Las Vegas, Nevada. A native of Cedar City, Utah, Robin knew that acting was her true passion in life from an early age. Robin was an optimistic young woman with a special talent for music and theater. She had dreams of stardom, and hoped to one day become a famous actor.

After an encouraging visit with a friend in Los Angeles who felt that Robin would make it big, Robin decided she would relocate to L.A. and pursue her dreams. On January 11, 1982, Robin began her journey from Los Angeles to Las Vegas to gather her belongings. She stopped in Barstow, CA to grab a bite to eat and called home to share her exciting news with her mom. Unfortunately, after she returned to the highway, her life came to a tragic and horrific end.

Robin's family had a strong desire to create a way for her love of theater to live on, and help other theater students realize their dreams. The Bishop family came together, creating the Robin Lynn Bishop Memorial Endowment providing a legacy in memory of Robin. The scholarship is awarded to an outstanding junior studying theatre arts. Recipients are selected by the theatre arts faculty.

A beautiful portrait of Robin is displayed on the second floor in South Hall.
