About This Scholarship

Scholarship Criteria

The Ivory Scholar Student Success Initiative aims to enhance the educational opportunities and business experiences for students at Southern Utah University. The objective of the initiative is to empower students interested in women in leadership by improving their business acumen, networking skills, career opportunities, and belonging in the business community. Ten students will be selected as “Ivory Scholars.” Selected students will take six credits of women's leadership classes, attend women in business events and conferences, participate in the Ivory Hack-A-House competition and work closely with the SUU Women in Business club to improve business skills and create a sense of belonging. Ivory Scholars will also have the opportunity to participate in a Women in Leadership certification program, which will help them apply for future leadership positions and build lasting impact on their communities.

Students will receive a half-tuition scholarship and a $1,000 stipend per semester for the year when they are selected as Ivory Scholars. The selection process requires all candidates to have a solid academic record and a desire to improve their leadership skills. Ivory Scholars are required to take two 3.0 credit women-focused leadership classes, participate in conferences and competitions, plan a Women in a Business club event, and participate in mentoring sessions for career development. Ivory Scholars will be assigned a faculty, staff, student, or alumni mentor for the year with whom they will have the opportunity to build a meaningful, life-long relationship.
