Gem Awards is a family-owned engraving and awards company based in Cedar City, Utah, that has been serving schools, universities, businesses, and organizations since 1988. Founded by Bruce and Shannon Passey now owned and managed by Jacob Passey, the company has grown from a local trophy shop into one of the nation’s fastest-growing online awards retailers, specializing in personalized trophies, plaques, medals, name tags, and custom engraving services. Gem Awards is known for its focus on quality craftsmanship, customer service, and helping organizations strengthen relationships through meaningful recognition and appreciation. In recognition of the exceptional talent and creativity of Southern Utah University graduates, Gem Awards is establishing an endowed scholarship to support graphic design students at Southern Utah University. The scholarship reflects the company’s appreciation for the many SUU-trained designers who have contributed to the growth and success of Gem Awards through their innovation, professionalism, and strong educational foundation. Criteria
Upper-class students (juniors and above) majoring in Graphic Design in the College of Performing and Visual Arts. GPA of 2.5 or higher
