The Old Spanish Trail Association Scholarship honors the enduring legacy of the historic trail that connected diverse peoples, cultures, and communities across the American Southwest. Awarded to junior and senior History majors, this scholarship recognizes students who demonstrate a commitment to historical inquiry, cultural understanding, and the preservation of the stories that shape our shared heritage. Reflecting the values of exploration, resilience, scholarship, and civic engagement embodied by the Old Spanish Trail and Southern Utah University's History community, this award supports students as they deepen their understanding of the past and contribute to a more informed future.
Criteria
Recipient must be a Junior or Senior academic standing. Recipient must be an undergraduate enrolled in the College of Humanities and Social Sciences studying History. Recipient must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5. Recipient is highly encouraged to attend the annual Old Spanish Trail Conference.
