Donor Biography

The Valorie Balckburn Scholarship was set up by her mother to honor her memory, charisma and passion for pre-med at SUU.

Valorie passed away in 1984, and excelled in sports and her studies at SUU despite having asthma. She had a gift of making others feel like they were her favorite, and was a positive and outgoing young lady.

Valorie had completed her MCAT in the summer of 1984 and was going to medical school upon graduation of SUSC. Valorie's family set up this scholarship to help students who want to go into higher health education. Their desire is to keep Valorie's goals and aspirations alive to help others who have the same kind of goals.

Scholarship Criteria

Awarded to junior or senior students from the College of Science in the field of Biology maintaining at least a 3.0 GPA and planning to pursue careers in research or medicine demonstrating financial need.

The Biology Department requires additional information for any Biology scholarship. Please fill out the following form once per academic year to be considered for any Biology scholarships
