About This Scholarship

Donor Biography

Lucile was born on January 4, 1909 and at the age of only 52 passed away on May 23rd 1961. A year after the passing of Lucile, the Lucile L. Broadbent Foundation was established by my father Dr. L. Verl Broadbent to provide scholarships for students in the arts who would otherwise have trouble completing their education. Later the name of the foundation was changed and the monies transferred to establish an endowed scholarship at SUSC (now SUU). Michael the son of Lucile And Verl and his wife Carol Hafen Broadbent have continued the tradition and they are happy to be able to do so. It is especially gratifying when we receive letters from the scholarship recipients about what they are doing with their education.
