About This Scholarship

Donor Biography

Jane Tripp Doran, born in 1930, was a career woman in California. After she retired, she moved to Cedar City and attended classes at SUU. She loved SUU and the campus environment. Jane attended classes on everything as she loved to learn. Jane was a very kind woman who, while she didn't have children or a family of her own, would set up bank accounts for her friends' children. She would fund them by walking along the roads and collecting recyclable cans and coins. She continued her philanthropic endeavors after she retired and moved to Utah.
Jane was a strong advocate for education. She had a great desire to help single mothers who wanted to get back to school and finish their education. While she had a successful career, her passion was truly helping those in need, and as a retiree, she certainly helped many. She attended meetings that offered support to others through friendship and mentorship. Jane passed away in 2007.
