Course Requirements

Course Requirements and Grading
Grading will be based on participation in class, work outside of class, and on the quality of the drawings including successful exploration, understanding, and completion of the assignments. Attendance will also be a component of your grade.

Drawings will be turned in five times, at the end of class, on the days noted on the calendar. Each set will be given a score of 1 through 10 based on Visual Organization, Perceptual Acuity, and Technical Facility.  The final grade will be a combination of these five scores (50 pts), the scores of your outside assignments (70 pts) and Final assignment (10 pts). If you do not turn in a drawing set on time then the grade will be based on what you have done in class only, however you can turn in the outside drawings late and still receive a slightly reduced grade.

Instructor's policies on late assignments and/or makeup work

Course work can be accepted late, but will have a penalty of a full grade deduction for the finished product (ie. An assignment of "A" quality will receive a "B"). Course assignments missed due to excused absence will not bear a penalty, but must be completed promptly upon return to the classroom.

Attendance Policy

Attendance Policy
Studio courses are experiential in nature and rely heavily on in-class instruction, collaboration, and critique. Consequently, attendance is mandatory. A student who misses more than 1/4 of the class time will receive a grade no higher than a “C-“, regardless of performance on assignments.
Excused absences—such as those due to documented illness, university-sponsored activities, or other legitimate circumstances—may be made up with appropriate documentation (e.g., a doctor's note or official university communication). It is the student's responsibility to inform the instructor before the absence when possible and to make arrangements to complete missed work promptly.

Course Fees

There will be a $19.00 per credit fee for this course

An equivalent amount of work is expected for laboratory work, internships, practica, studio, and other academic work leading to the awarding of credit hours. Credit granted for individual courses, labs, or studio classes ranges from 0.5 to 15 credit hours per semester.
