Course Requirements

PARTICIPATION:
Participation is a necessary part of my classroom. If you choose not to participate your grade will suffer. The first 50 points will be awarded at midterms. The second 50 points will be awarded at the completion of the semester. These points will be awarded for attending class, participating in class discussions, answering in class questions, discussing things with your partner when requested. These points are yours to lose and will be given on a sliding scale. If you have an unnotified absence, you will lose participation points for the day.
ASSIGNMENTS:
Each student will be assigned a set of problems to complete and turn in at the beginning of class the following week. Assignments will be turned in via canvas on specified due date. Late assignment policy discussed above will apply.
MINI PRESENTATIONS:
During the discussions about in vitro and in vivo testing you will have an opportunity to do a brief 5-10 min presentation on a protocol and its results that you pulled from a peer reviewed article that you find to be of high quality.
LIFE CYCLE OF DRUG PROJECT:
In groups of 2, students will be asked to select an FDA approved pharmaceutics to complete a project on. Students will discuss all of the information for the drug chosen based on what has been discussed during the semester. The student will choose the topic for the project. Choose a pharmaceutic that interests you. Grading rubric will include the discussion of ADME, Toxicity, at least 1 drug screening experiment in detail, purpose of the pharmaceutic and a potential way to improve the pharmaceutic. The presentation should be engaging and students should be able to answer questions provided by instructor. An invitation to other students and other faculty members will be extended. The grading rubric is on canvas.
